How women can also be as empowered as men in the tech industry

There’s been a lot of talks about how there’s more men than women in the tech industry. I think the actual reason behind this is beyond gender discrimation or inequality.

The core problem is that only a small fraction of the female population are interested in technology-related work.

It’s a choice — but mostly a pre-conditioned, influenced choice.  Continue reading How women can also be as empowered as men in the tech industry

Humans need not apply

Technology gets better, cheaper, and faster at a rate biology can’t match.

Interesting stuff. For some reason this reminded me of the satirical movie Idiocracy (2006) wherein a few centuries from now human evolution would have taken a dramatic down turn, society being incredibly dumbed down.

Wikipedia has a good summary of the movie’s plot:

The film tells the story of two people who take part in a top-secret military hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years later in a dystopian society where advertising, commercialism, and cultural anti-intellectualism have run rampant and that is devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.

3D-printed ultrasound of a baby for blind mom

I remember the time my wife and I first saw our little girl through ultrasound — it was an exhilarating experience we’ll never forget.

I am really, really glad that we now have the technology to let visually impaired parents experience the same.

Amazing, powerful stuff. Thanks and +1 for 3D printing!

A different (and faster) kind of 3D printer

What most commercial 3D printers can produce in about 5 hours, this thing can do in approximately 6 minutes — it’s that fast.

The process is termed “Continuous Liquid Interface Production (CLIP)”. Simply put, as imgur user HelloToe explained:

UV light triggers photo polymerization and oxygen inhibits it. By carefully balancing the two, CLIP grows objects from a pool of resin.

Autopilot on Tesla Model S

Every new Model S is Autopilot enabled. The future is heeeeere!

Model S Autopilot

Model S comes standard with a forward looking camera, radar, and 360-degree ultrasonic sensors that actively monitor the surrounding roadway. Progressive software updates over time will enable sophisticated safety and convenience features that use these sensors to respond to real world conditions. Safety features include systems that warn drivers of potential hazards and help avoid or lessen the impacts of collisions. Convenience features include everyday driving maneuvers that reduce driver workload, such as traffic aware cruise control and automatic parking.

That electric cruisebeast feature.
